USD/CNY (USDCNY=X) price forecast
USD/CNY is trading at 6.76. Over the next 4 hours our simulation puts it between 6.74 and 6.77— that's the 10th-to-90th percentile of 20,000 modelled outcomes, so roughly four times in five it should land inside that band. The odds of finishing higher are near a coin toss, so the model claims no directional signal here — the range is the whole forecast. These are probabilities, not predictions of certainty, and the backtest below shows exactly how often the model has been right.

How accurate has this model been on USD/CNY?
Every forecast site claims accuracy. Here is ours, measured by walk-forward backtest on data the model never saw during training. Where it has no edge over a naive baseline, we say so.
| Horizon | Directional accuracy | Baseline | Edge | Verdict |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1-day | 49.6% | 52.5% | -2.9% | no edge |
| 7-day | 48.0% | 51.0% | -3.0% | no edge |
| 30-day | 48.6% | 56.6% | -8.1% | no edge |
Backtested on 2000unseen samples. "No edge" means the model was no better than assuming the recent trend continues — an honest result, and a common one.
What the model is saying about USD/CNY
The model expects the USD/CNY exchange rate to drift modestly lower from its current level of 6.77. Over one week the projected rate is 6.76 (range 6.72 to 6.80), with a near-even 50% probability of moving higher. Over one month it sees 6.75 (range 6.67 to 6.83, 36% chance up), and over one year 6.55 (range 6.28 to 6.84, 17% chance up, expected return -3.11%). Confidence weakens sharply with time: reliability runs from moderate at one week to very low at one year. The backdrop is low annualised volatility of 3.27% and a slight -0.53% trailing-month move, consistent with the mild downward tilt. Crucially, the ML model shows no measurable edge: at every horizon it trails the naive baseline (49.6% vs 52.5% at one day, 48.0% vs 51.0% at one week, 48.6% vs 56.6% at one month). Given the weak accuracy, the wide long-horizon ranges, and low reliability, a shift in volatility could readily overturn this outlook.
How to read this forecast
We don't publish a single price target, because nobody can know one. Instead the engine runs 20,000 simulated futures for USD/CNY and reports the band containing the middle 80% of them — the 10th to 90th percentile. A wide band means genuine uncertainty; a narrow one means the recent range has been calm. The odds higher figure is a calibrated probability: when we say 60%, outcomes of that kind should finish higher about 60 times in 100. Near 50% there is no directional signal at all, and the range itself is the entire forecast.

Forecasts are probabilistic estimates from historical price data, not financial advice. Short-horizon direction has only a small measurable edge; long-horizon numbers reflect drift plus widening uncertainty and should be read as ranges, not targets. Figures update hourly.
